Class Description

Atha yoga anushasanam "Now begins the study of yoga.” —Yoga Sutra 1.1 Yoga is not about touching your toes, or standing on your hands; The only goal of yoga is to quiet the mind. In order for you to find stillness mentally and explore the personal depths of your yoga practice, it's vital for you to listen to your body's individual needs. There is no universal alignment in Yoga. That means what your body needs may be completely different than the person next to you.. and there's nothing wrong with that, friend! Instructors Emily and Laughlin address this in Beginning Yoga through a variety of techniques, including exploring mobility and functional movement exercises, and variations of yoga asana (postures) utilizing all of the yoga props available to us at 3rd Street. This class is designed for those who are just starting out on their yoga journey, but also perfect for the well-seasoned yogi! We will cover the basics of meditation, and pranayama (breathing exercises), and together we will discover how to use yoga to enrich our lives and bring more balance and harmony into our every day.
