Class Descriptions

yoga mix / wellness break

Hatha yoga

This slow and soothing class guides students through the standard Hatha yoga positions. Focusing on alignment and personalizing yoga to your needs, every class is slightly different depending on what section of the body the class needs to work on. Lisa leads the class with laughter and a welcoming sense of joy. What's not to love?!

Energy yoga

The energy pathways in the body are a complex system. Rachel has developed a rich class full of techniques to move prana (life force) throughout the anatomy of the subtle or energy body.  Join Rachel for a 75 minute yoga class full of various methods to increase, cultivate and direct this spiritual energy. Think lots of breath work, chanting, and invigorating sequences. This class is a crowd favorite.

Yin/Restorative Yoga

Kelly blends the yin yoga tradition with restorative yoga poses. Make your muscles and tendons sigh with pleasure using very gentle stretches, then make your whole body and mind relax with lovely supported restorative yoga poses while listening to healing music. In this quiet meditative class you will hold the poses for 2-5 minutes, utilizing props and gentle breath work.

Beginning Yoga

New to yoga? Want to deepen your knowledge of yoga postures and breath work? Emily will guide you through a 60 minute yoga class, utilizing the props and pose variations to make yoga accessible for all students. A slower to moderate paced class that pairs pranayama (breathing techniques) with asana (poses). This is a great option for beginning or deepening your yoga journey.

The Big Relax

The big relax is a restorative yoga class lovingly crafted for those seeking to move their body in a gentle way, to release tension and to relax the nervous system. Restorative yoga is a passive, meditative form of Yoga that allows you to focus on resting, healing, and restoring balance to the body.  Emily will guide you through various meditation techniques and poses utilizing all the yoga props to make your experience as comfortable and nourishing as possible. Restorative yoga is accessible for all students.

55 and Over

Enjoy the benefits of yoga at any age.  Has your Physician suggested you start practicing yoga yet you are struggling to find the class environment that feels welcoming and accepting for you and your needs?  Welcome to 3rd Street Yoga 55+ yoga class.   This class is for those looking for a safe, effective way to enhance their physical health and overall wellness through the multi-faceted world of yoga.  During this class we will use yoga props such as straps, blocks, bolsters and chairs  to help everyone achieve their own personal level of success during class.   Practicing yoga regularly can result in a host of benefits for older adults, including but definitely not limited to greater flexibility, improved balance, lower stress and better sleep.

Bread and Butter Yoga

A little bit of this, a little bit of that. Simple, but oh so good. This class is everything we love about yoga: breath work, invigorating sequences, long shavasanas, and deep stretches. We hope you give it a try!

Sunrise yoga

Wake up with the beautiful SUN. Invigorate your body, mind and spirit in this punctual one hour practice that energizes your day and harmonizes your life. Sunrise yoga brings your body more energy and nourishes you with a positive attitude to fully prepare for the challenges of the day ahead. In Yoga, the morning is considered a “divine time” when an individual’s spiritual energy is at its peak. Clarity, creativity, and peace of mind and body are benefits of a Sunrise Yoga practice because of fewer distractions before starting your day. Join Emily from 6:00am-7:00am every Wednesday morning.

Kundalini Yoga

Kundalini Yoga classes at 3rd Street Yoga are for all-levels and there is no previous experience needed to attend. Kundalini Yoga is an uplifting blend of spiritual and physical practices. It can leave you feeling like you had a gentle therapy session, a great work-in, put the jam on the mat, let go of some old baggage, or relieved mental or physical discomfort. It is a mixture of Bhakti Yoga (spiritual devotion and chanting), Raja Yoga (meditation), and Shakti Yoga (the expression of power and energy). Kundalini Yoga incorporates movement, dynamic breathing techniques, mantras, mudras, and meditation. This practice builds physical vitality, encourages using intuition, and increases consciousness. It stands on Patanjali’s kriya yoga pillars, consisting of self-discipline, self-study, and dedication to a Higher Power.

Come As You Are Vinyasa

All are welcome in this Vinyasa flow class. We start with a check-in to connect mind and body, and we keep it "mindful-ish" offering compassion and adding humor where needed. Pranayama (breath work), mudras (hand gestures) for focus, and chanting all foster a unique community and build shared energy in this safe space for practicing authentically. Creatively sequenced flows will pair breath with movement, including accessible options and guidance for all practitioners in a fun, inclusive, and touch free environment.

Meditation

Join K to learn different meditation techniques in this one hour class. Science has proven that regular meditation can have powerful long-lasting effects. Meditation helps to activate our parasympathetic nervous system and begin the process of ushering our body back to a more calm state. Through mediation, you begin to notice your body and mind more easily let go of daily stressors and challenges. You may feel calmer and have clearer focus. Your creativity can skyrocket and you feel more balanced and comfortable in your skin. This class is great for beginners looking to learn more about meditation.

Yoga Mix

Yoga Mix is a simple class that is easy to modify, and focuses on the breath. You can expect a mix of vinyasas (connecting breath and movement) and poses that are held for 5 to 10 breaths. Strength building, pilates, and relaxation techniques all thrown in.  Savasana is included at the end of every class with a reading included after savasana. This class has a regular group of friends in attendance and always warmly welcomes new students! We hope to see you soon!

Yoga Flow

Vinyasa based class building from the ground up as we move the body, increase the breath and get the energy pumping.  Connecting one asana (posture) to the next with the breath creates the ‘flow’ within the body.  No two classes are alike and with this practice we help to develop a more balanced mind, body, and spirit.

Yoga for Anxiety and Depression

Stress, Depression and Anxiety generally go hand-in-hand, especially in our society today. This class will help you gain skills to use on and off the mat- i.e. breathing techniques, grounding techniques, balancing poses to help you center your mind and body, different types of meditation, and much more! This class will be a variety of types of yoga that are accessible for all and geared specifically towards anxiety and depression. All are welcome! :)

Yoga for Anxiety

This class is intended for anyone who has struggled with the effects of anxiety and is seeking a safer, more intentional practice. Classes will begin with Allix outlining what that day's practice will look like, so you know what to expect and are more at ease. We will start each session with grounding exercises and pranayama (breathing exercises) before moving into asanas (poses). Yoga for Anxiety uses trauma-informed principles and nervous-system regulating techniques that benefit everyone. This class is not a clinical or therapeutic intervention, but seeks to provide support for navigating the struggles of having anxiety in our busy, everyday lives. This is an all-levels class - so all are welcome!

Tantra Yoga (Classic Traditional Yoga)

Tantra in Sanskrit means ‘to weave’ and this practice is about weaving our spiritual enlightenment through connecting with our energies and focusing on specific asanas, mudras, meditations, and pranayama.  This practice is more about a moving meditation rather than the ‘physical workout.’  As your teacher I simply guide you through the practice creating a space in which you can truly connect with yourself-mind, body, and spirit.  This practice is often looked as the practice of ‘being yoga’ versus ‘doing yoga.’  The purpose of Tantra Yoga is to facilitate meditation, preparing the body through moving asanas to quiet the body and mind.  To quiet the mental chatter, learning to be comfortable with silence, putting aside the goal of flexibility or physical fitness as the end goal, and to lean into pleasure(those things in life that truly give you pleasure), and to gain the confidence to follow your own path allowing you space to unlearn the conditioning we have all faced in life.

Wellness Yoga

This class will change weekly allowing you to  incorporate and explore other facets of yoga.  Whether you are a life long yogi or new to the mat this class is for everyone.

1st Wednesday - All The Props (foam rollers, therapy balls, blocks, blankets, straps, wheel)

2nd Wednesday - Movement & Meditation(anything goes/everything goes using mantra, mudra, guided, pranayama, Nidra)

3rd Wednesday - Restorative & Reiki (Release, Reset, Refresh, Renew)

4th Wednesday - Body Awareness (focusing on the many components of the  body-shoulders, hips, knees, organs, etc.)

Yoga Community Circle

Come find soulful connection with others looking to expand and grow in the yoga community.

Our monthly Community Circle, held every 1st Friday of the month, includes authentic relating games, open discussion, meditation, breathing exercises, and more followed by a short yoga flow to connect body, mind and spirit. The circle has a new theme every month based on the Yoga Sutra's of Patanjali. The Yoga Sutras is an ancient compilation of lectures and teachings that outlines an eight-limbed, step-by-step path for purifying the body and mind to achieve a state of bliss. Yoga is far more than a physical practice, it is about discovering who we are and becoming the best we can be.  Join Emily as she holds space for you and other community members in an exploration of your personal yoga path. Learn how to take your yoga off the mat and how to be more mindful and intentional in your physical yoga practice. All are welcome in this space!

Each circle lasts approximately 2 hours. Starts at 7:15 PM.

$10 for each participant.
